Die Kurzfilme über "Water Users Associations" und das vom Aussterben bedrohte "Mountain Bongo" in der Region des Mount Kenia, Ostafrika entstanden während eines Praktikumsaufenthaltes in Kenia für das CETRAD "Centre for Training and Integrated Research in Arid and Semiarid Lands Development" / CDE "Centre for Development and Environment" Universität Bern 2011.
Die Filme wurden unter einfachsten Bedingungen in Kenia gefilmt und geschnitten und haben nicht den Anspruch mit teureren Dokumentarfilmen "mitzuhalten". Vielmehr standen Lernprozess und Umgang mit rudimentärer Infrastruktur im Zentrum der Arbeit. Die Zeit in Kenia war in jeder Hinsicht absolut bereichernd und prägend.

Mountains play a crucial role in the supply of freshwater to humankind. Increasing demand urgently requires careful management of mountain water ressources in order to mitigate growing water crises and conflicts.

The last remaining Mountain Bongos
The Mountain Bongo is a large shy antelope endemic to Kenya's indigenous forests.
Due to habitat destruction and hunting the Bongo is on the brink of extinction with just 103 remaining in the wild. It is now the most threatened antelope in Kenya and possibly the most endangered large land mammal south of the Sahara.
The Bongo Surveillance Programme (BSP) is a local community-based initiative. In collaboration with Kenya Wildlife Service and the conservation charity -- Rhino Ark, the BSP began an active programme of forest surveillance.
